Understanding Organizations
What is an Organization?
In Scriptix, an organization represents your company or entity:
- Your organization contains all users in your account
- Users within an organization can collaborate on documents
- Organizations have subscription plans and settings
- Organization administrators manage users and settings
Organization Structure
- Organization - Your company (e.g., "Acme Corporation")
- Users - Team members within the organization
- Groups/Teams - Used for folder permission management
- Roles - Different permission levels for users
- Shared Resources - Documents, folders within the organization
User Roles
Scriptix has different user roles with varying levels of access:
SYSOP (System Operator)
- Full system-level access
- Back-office administration
- System configuration
- Not a typical user role
ORGADMIN (Organization Administrator)
- Manage organization settings
- Manage users and groups
- Access all organization documents
- Configure organization preferences
CONTRIBUTOR
- Create and upload files
- Transcribe audio/video
- Edit own documents
- Access shared documents
- Create and manage folders
- Export documents
CUSTOMER
- View shared documents
- Limited access
- Cannot create new documents
- Basic user permissions
DEVELOPER
- API access
- Integration development
- Similar document access to CONTRIBUTOR
RESELLER
- Manage customer organizations
- Reseller-specific features
- Customer billing management
RESELLEE
- Customer of a reseller
- Access to reseller's platform
TESTER
- Testing access
- Quality assurance purposes
Groups/Teams
Groups are used primarily for folder permissions:
Group Structure:
- Each group has an ID, name, and description
- Users belong to groups within the organization
- Groups are assigned permissions to private folders
Group Usage:
- Assign Read or Write access to private folders
- Control which teams can see specific folders
- Manage access to sensitive content

Folder Permissions
Permission Levels
| Permission Level | Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
| No Access | 0 | Team cannot see folder |
| Read | 1 | Team can view contents only |
| Write | 2 | Full access - view, create, edit, delete |
Folder Types
Shared Folders:
- Accessible to all organization members
- Everyone has Write permission by default
- Simple collaboration option
Private Folders:
- Restricted access
- Assign specific teams with Read or Write access
- Better control for sensitive content

Document Sharing
Magic Links
Share documents with anyone using magic links:
Features:
- Generate shareable links from editor
- Recipients don't need Scriptix accounts
- Send via email or copy link
- Documents must be finalized first
How to Share:
- Open document in editor
- Toggle document to "Finalized" status
- Click "Magic Link" button
- Copy link or send via email
Comments (Transcript Editor)
Collaborate on transcripts using comments:
Comment Features:
- Add comments to transcript sections
- Reply to comments
- Edit and delete your own comments
- View comment history
Note: Comments are internal only - not included in exports or magic link shares.

Troubleshooting
User Can't Access Folder
Possible Causes:
- Folder is private and user's team doesn't have access
- User role doesn't have required permissions
Solutions:
- Check folder permissions
- Add user's team to folder access list
- Contact organization administrator
Can't Share Document
Possible Causes:
- Document not finalized
- Not in editor view
Solutions:
- Toggle document to "Finalized" status
- Open document in editor
- Refresh page and try again
