General Questions

What is Scriptix?

Scriptix is an automatic speech-to-text platform that converts audio and video files into accurate, editable transcripts and captions.

Do I need to download any software?

No. Scriptix is entirely web-based. Access it from any modern browser without downloads or installations.

Which browsers are supported?

Modern browsers are supported. The application is built with React and works best with:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Edge

Not supported:

  • Internet Explorer

Is there a mobile app?

Currently, Scriptix is web-based only. You can access Scriptix from mobile browsers.

What languages are supported?

Scriptix supports 37+ languages. The interface is available in:

  • English (en)
  • Dutch (nl)
  • French (fr)
  • German (de)

Account & Billing

How much does Scriptix cost?

Four subscription tiers:

  • Bronze (Starter): €119/month - 3 seats, batch STT, UI & API
  • Silver (Professional): €479/month - 10 seats, batch & realtime, translation, summarization
  • Gold (Business): €1,199/month - Unlimited seats, all features, custom models
  • Platinum (Enterprise): €10,000/month - Custom, local deployment, dedicated features

How is usage calculated?

Usage is measured in:

  • STT Units - Speech-to-text transcription units
  • Alignment Units - Force alignment processing units
  • Translation Characters - Characters translated
  • Custom Models Trained - Training sessions completed
  • Custom Models Hosted - Active models stored

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment is processed through Mollie payment gateway. The specific payment methods available depend on your region and Mollie's supported options.

Billing channels supported:

  • Scriptix (direct billing)
  • Azure (Azure marketplace billing)

Can I cancel anytime?

Resellers can cancel subscriptions:

  • Cancel button available in subscription details (RESELLER role only)
  • Cancellation scheduled for end of billing period
  • Subscription remains active until cancel date
  • Cannot be undone after confirmation

What happens when I reach my limits?

View your available resources in Subscription Details:

  • Speech-to-Text units available
  • Alignment units available
  • Translation budget available

Usage is tracked by billing period and displayed in the Usage Details table.

Files & Upload

What file formats are supported?

Audio formats:

  • MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC

Video formats:

  • MP4, AVI, MOV, and other common video formats

For Custom Models:

  • Audio: .wav, .mp3, .m4a, .flac
  • Transcripts: .vtt, .srt, .txt
  • Manifest: .jsonl

What's the maximum file size?

Maximum file size: 40GB

Scriptix uses TUS protocol for resumable uploads:

  • Upload happens in 50MB chunks
  • Can resume if connection lost
  • Upload via Uppy file uploader

How long does transcription take?

Processing time depends on:

  • File length
  • Audio quality
  • Language selected
  • Speaker diarization (if enabled)
  • System load

Actual processing times vary based on current system demand.

Transcription Features

How does speaker identification work?

Speaker Diarization:

  • Enable via organization default setting (Profile → Organization Details → "Separate speakers")
  • Or enable per upload
  • Automatically detects and labels different speakers
  • Can rename speakers in editor

Can I edit transcripts?

Yes. The transcript editor provides editing capabilities:

  • Edit text content
  • Manage speakers
  • Navigate paragraphs
  • Add comments (collaboration feature)
  • Auto-save to localStorage

What export formats are available?

Caption formats:

  • SBV (YouTube)
  • SRT (SubRip)
  • TTML (Timed Text Markup Language)
  • VTT (WebVTT)
  • Media (platform-specific)
  • STL (Spruce Subtitle File)
  • HTML

Can I translate transcripts?

Scriptix supports machine translation using glossaries. Glossaries are translation term pairs for DeepL and Google translation services.

What are glossaries?

Glossaries are translation term pairs:

  • Source language term → Target language term
  • Used by DeepL or Google translation services
  • Stored as CSV format
  • Organization-wide templates

Not used for transcription accuracy - only for translation.

What are custom models?

Custom models are AI models you can train:

  • Name and language selection
  • Train with datasets (1-10 files, 10GB max per file)
  • 5 training statuses
  • Delete restricted to ORGADMIN and SYSOP roles

Available on Business (Gold) and Enterprise (Platinum) plans.

Captions & Subtitles

What's the difference between transcripts and captions?

Transcripts:

  • Full text of spoken content
  • Document type in workspace
  • Edited in transcript editor

Captions:

  • Time-synced text for video
  • Document type in workspace
  • Edited in caption editor

Both are document types you can create in the workspace.

How do I adjust caption timing?

Use the caption editor to adjust timing. The caption editor includes:

  • Timeline controls
  • Segment management
  • Waveform visualization

Caption styling options

Text Styles:

  • Bold (B)
  • Italic (I)
  • Underline (U)
  • Strikethrough (S)

Colors:

  • White (default)
  • Yellow
  • Green

Position:

  • Top Left
  • Top Center
  • Bottom Left
  • Bottom Center

Collaboration

Can multiple users work on transcripts?

Yes. Collaboration features include:

  • Document sharing
  • Folder permissions
  • Team organization
  • User roles

How do I add team members?

Create users:

  1. Navigate to Users page
  2. Click "New User" button
  3. Fill in user details in modal
  4. User created and added to organization

What user roles are available?

Eight roles:

  1. SYSOP - System operator (back-office)
  2. ORGADMIN - Organization administrator
  3. CONTRIBUTOR - Content creators/editors
  4. CUSTOMER - Basic customer access
  5. DEVELOPER - API access
  6. RESELLER - Reseller with customer management
  7. RESELLEE - Reseller's customer
  8. TESTER - Testing access

Can I share with people outside my organization?

Yes. Use Magic Link sharing:

  • Share documents via magic link
  • Set recipient email address
  • Email message limited to 500 characters
  • No Scriptix account required for recipient

Does Scriptix have an API?

Yes. API access includes:

  • API token authentication (Bearer)
  • Two token types: Batch and Realtime
  • Token expiration: 1, 2, or 5 years (1 year recommended)
  • Delete requires ADMIN or DEVELOPER role

Batch:

  • Store data then process it
  • For file upload and async processing

Realtime:

  • Process data as it comes
  • For real-time streaming applications

Create tokens in API Keys page with name, type, and expiration period.

Security & Privacy

Is my data secure?

The application includes:

  • User authentication with JWT tokens
  • Role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Document-level permissions
  • Folder-level permissions
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) available

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Enable 2FA:

  1. Navigate to Profile → Security Settings
  2. Click "Activate 2FA"
  3. Scan QR code with authenticator app
  4. Enter verification code
  5. Download backup codes

Backup codes:

  • Save immediately after enabling
  • Use if authenticator app unavailable
  • Each code usable once only

Can I delete my data?

Delete user account:

  • Deactivate account (temporary suspension)
  • Delete account (permanent removal)
  • Available in Profile → Danger Zone

Delete organization (ADMIN only):

  • Deletes entire organization
  • Removes all users and data
  • Irreversible action

Organization Management

How do I manage my organization?

Organization settings in Profile page:

  • Organization details (name, email, phone, address, VAT)
  • Branding (logo and color for resellers only)
  • Default settings (diarization, magic link export)
  • Security settings (2FA)

What are teams?

Teams help organize users:

  • Create teams with name and description
  • Edit team details
  • Delete teams when no longer needed

Folders organize documents:

  • Create folders in workspace
  • Set permissions for teams
  • Permission levels: NO_ACCESS (0), READ (1), WRITE (2)

How do I organize documents?

Workspace features:

  • Pin important documents
  • Filter by status (Draft, In Progress, Complete)
  • Filter by language
  • Search by document name
  • Sort by various fields
  • Create folders

  • EXPORT_TEMPLATE - DOCX formatting template with PDF example
  • SUMMARIZATION - AI summary generation with custom prompt

  • Create in Profile → Account Personalization
  • Edit (ORGADMIN only)
  • Download DOCX and PDF files
  • Delete templates

Can I customize keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Custom keyboard shortcuts for transcript editor:

  1. Navigate to Profile → Keymap Settings
  2. Click "Add Keymap"
  3. Record key combination (up to 3 keys)
  4. Enter function value
  5. Save shortcut
