What is Scriptix?

Scriptix is an automatic speech-to-text platform that converts audio and video files into accurate, editable transcripts and captions. It uses AI-powered speech recognition to transcribe content in 37+ languages.

Do I need to download any software?

No. Scriptix is entirely web-based. Access it from any modern browser without downloads or installations.

Which browsers are supported?

Recommended:

  • Chrome 90+
  • Firefox 88+
  • Safari 14+
  • Edge 90+

Not supported:

  • Internet Explorer

Is there a mobile app?

Currently, Scriptix is web-based only. Mobile apps are planned for the future. You can access Scriptix from mobile browsers with limited functionality.

How accurate is the transcription?

Accuracy varies based on:

  • Audio quality: 95-99% for clear audio
  • Speaker accent: Better with native speakers
  • Background noise: Degrades accuracy
  • Technical terms: Improved with glossaries

Average accuracy: 90-95% for typical use cases.

What languages are supported?

37+ languages including:

  • English (US, UK, AU, IN, etc.)
  • Spanish, French, German, Italian
  • Portuguese, Dutch, Russian

Is there a free trial?

Yes! New users get a free trial with:

  • 100-300 minutes of transcription (varies by promotion)
  • Access to all features
  • No credit card required
  • 14-30 day access

How much does Scriptix cost?

Pricing varies by plan:

  • Free Trial - Try before you buy
  • Starter - $X/month for individuals
  • Professional - $X/month for teams
  • Enterprise - Custom pricing for organizations

How is usage calculated?

Usage is measured in transcription minutes (not real-time):

  • 60-minute audio file = 60 minutes of usage
  • Includes transcription, re-transcription, translation
  • Editing doesn't consume usage
  • Captions created from existing transcript = no additional usage

What payment methods are accepted?

  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
  • Debit cards
  • PayPal (in some regions)
  • ACH/Bank transfer (Enterprise only)
  • Purchase orders (Enterprise only)

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel anytime:

  • No cancellation fees
  • Access until end of billing period
  • Data retained for 30 days
  • Can reactivate later

What happens if I exceed my quota?

Depends on plan:

  • Hard limit - Transcription stops until quota resets or upgrade
  • Soft limit - Overage charges apply
  • Enterprise - Custom arrangements

You receive warnings at 80% and 100% usage.

What file formats are supported?

What's the maximum file size?

  • Standard upload: 2GB
  • TUS upload: Unlimited (for large files)
  • API upload: Same as above

For files >2GB, use the TUS upload protocol.

How long does transcription take?

Processing time:

  • Typically 30-50% of file duration
  • 60-minute file = ~20-30 minutes processing
  • High demand may increase wait time
  • Depends on file quality and settings

Factors affecting speed:

  • File length
  • Audio quality
  • Language selected
  • Speaker diarization (adds time)
  • Queue/demand

Can I transcribe live/real-time?

Yes! Use the Realtime API for:

  • Live phone calls
  • Streaming audio
  • Real-time meetings
  • Live events

Is there a file duration limit?

  • No maximum duration
  • Files up to 24 hours tested successfully
  • Very long files (>5 hours) may take longer to process
  • Consider splitting extremely long files

Transcription Features

How does speaker identification work?

Speaker Diarization automatically:

  • Detects different speakers
  • Labels them (Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc.)
  • Segments transcript by speaker
  • You can then rename speakers

Works best when:

  • Speakers have distinct voices
  • Clear audio quality
  • Speakers don't talk over each other

Can I edit transcripts?

Yes! Full editing capabilities:

  • Edit text like a word processor
  • Adjust timestamps
  • Merge/split paragraphs
  • Add/remove speakers
  • Search and replace
  • Add comments

What export formats are available?

Glossaries are custom vocabulary lists that improve accuracy for:

What's the difference between transcripts and captions?

Captions/Subtitles:

  • Time-synced text for video
  • Formatted for readability on screen
  • Character limits per line
  • Includes styling and positioning

Can I create captions from transcripts?

Yes! Convert transcript to captions:

  1. Create/upload transcript
  2. Click Create Captions
  3. System creates time-synced captions
  4. Edit timing and formatting
  5. Export in SRT, VTT, etc.

How do I adjust caption timing?

In the Caption Editor:

  • Drag timeline handles to adjust in/out points
  • Type specific timestamps
  • Use keyboard shortcuts
  • Adjust multiple captions at once
  • Auto-sync to audio

What are character limits for captions?

Recommended limits:

  • 42 characters per line
  • 2 lines maximum per caption
  • 1-7 seconds on screen
  • Reading speed: 15-20 characters per second

Limits enforced by quality checks (can be customized).

  • Data centers in US and EU

How long do you keep my files?

Active accounts:

  • Files kept indefinitely while account active
  • Auto-save keeps versions

Cancelled accounts:

  • Data retained 30 days after cancellation
  • Download before cancellation for backup
  • Can request immediate deletion

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can:

  • Delete individual files anytime
  • Delete entire account and all data
  • Request data export (GDPR right)
  • Data permanently deleted within 30 days

Is Scriptix GDPR compliant?

New transcription uses additional quota.

What if my file format isn't supported?

Convert to supported format:

  • Use FFmpeg (free, open-source)

Recommended: WAV for audio, MP4 for video.

Can I transcribe multiple languages in one file?

Not automatically. For multilingual content:

  • Transcribe in primary language
  • Manually translate sections
  • Or split into separate files by language
