Keyboard Shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts let you edit transcripts faster. Shortcuts are customizable, and standard browser shortcuts also apply.
Click the Info button (i) in the editor toolbar to view the current shortcuts at any time.
Default Editor Shortcuts
Playback:
- Space - Play/Pause
- Ctrl+Left (Cmd on Mac) - Rewind 5 seconds
- Ctrl+Right (Cmd on Mac) - Forward 5 seconds
- Ctrl+ + (Cmd on Mac) - Speed up
- Ctrl+ - (Cmd on Mac) - Slow down
Editing:
- Ctrl+Z (Cmd on Mac) - Undo
- Ctrl+Y (Cmd on Mac) - Redo
- Ctrl+F (Cmd on Mac) - Open search
Formatting:
- Ctrl+B (Cmd on Mac) - Bold
- Ctrl+I (Cmd on Mac) - Italic
- Ctrl+U (Cmd on Mac) - Underline
- Ctrl+S (Cmd on Mac) - Strikethrough
Utterances:
- Ctrl+Shift+Down (Cmd on Mac) - Split utterance at cursor
Note: Ctrl+S applies strikethrough, not save. Use the Save button to save your work.
Customizing Shortcuts
You can define your own shortcuts for the transcript editor from Profile > Keymap Settings.
Add a shortcut
- Click Add Keymap.
- In the Key field, press your key combination, or type it manually. Up to three keys are supported, including the modifiers Ctrl, Shift, Alt, and Cmd (for example,
f,Ctrl + f, orCtrl + Shift + f). - In the Value field, enter the function the shortcut should trigger.
- Click Create.
Use Clear combination to reset the captured keys and try again.
Delete a shortcut
Click Delete on the shortcut's card. Deletion is immediate.
Tips
- Avoid combinations that clash with browser shortcuts such as
Ctrl + TorCtrl + W. - Custom shortcuts are personal to your account, not shared across your organization.

Because Scriptix runs in the browser, standard browser shortcuts apply:
